Inspired by the Barellan Working Clydesdales and the traditions of Australia's great teamsters, this artwork captures the preparation and building of a heavy horse team before pulling a wool wagon. In 2025, Barellan made history when a team of 62 draught horses—including Clydesdales, Percherons, Shires, Suffolk Punches and Australian Draught Horses—set a new Australian and world record pulling a laden Bennett tabletop wool wagon carrying more than ten tonnes of wool.
For me, this piece is about more than strength and spectacle. It honours the quiet skill, patience and trust that exist between teamster and horse, preserving a way of life that once powered Australia's wool industry and continues to inspire new generations today.
